It will be interesting to see what Lies of P adds to the already-crowded genre. Lies of P, the latest game from Bless Unleashed developer Round8 Studio, adapts Pinocchio into a gritty Dark Souls-like action game for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series XS. Lies of P, when finally released, will be available for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S consoles. Round8 Studio is full of no shortage of game dev talent, with veterans of Monster Hunter World on the team whose first game was Bless Unleashed. And the game is being billed as an RPG, so hopefully we see some wildly diverging builds in how you can build up Pinocchio. Telling Lies is a narrative video game developed by Sam Barlow and Furious Bee and published by Annapurna Interactive in August 2019 for Microsoft Windows.

More intriguing is the claim that the game will feature “profound narrative choices”, which could be interesting if they extend past what ending you get. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Reboot, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC 28 2022 E-Model 1:6 Ultraman Zero / Dx Ver. Pinocchio also uses what looks like magic while exploring the dark streets of Krat and uses a mechanical arm to equip different skills. The city itself feels like Yharnam from Bloodborne, and Pinocchio himself uses a variety of weapons to take on different flavors of automaton enemy. Another adaptation, Guillermo del Toro’s long-imagined take on Pinocchio, is being developed for Netflix as a stop-motion animated film.The accompanying trailer showcases the gameplay and atmosphere of Lies of P, which is extremely Dark Souls in nature and substance. Developer Round8 Studio and publisher NeoWiz have announced Lies of P, a Souls-like action-RPG that's inspired by the story of Pinocchio.

Pinocchio has been plumbed for horror before with the 1996 slasher film Pinocchio’s Revenge (and later unintentionally with Roberto Benigni’s 2002 comedy Pinocchio and Disney’s 2000 TV musical Geppetto). However, beyond that we don’t know all the much about the game and this is just the first look at the new project. The developers told IGN that the game will incorporate a lie system where what you do and say will impact gameplay - which is a connection to the story of Pinocchio, where the main character’s nose grows each time he tells a lie. The teaser ends with Geppetto putting the final touches on a fancy young lad who has a mechanical hand. Shrieks ring through the church and we see a white mechanized monster with blue eyes laying destroyed on the floor. He drags a large trunk into what appears to be a church that happens to resemble the Parisian cathedral Notre Dame. Sonic Frontiers was also granted a new video in time for Gamescom but we cant say it looks more reassuring than the previous ones. The released footage - a cinematic trailer - shows a decrepit, snow-covered European city that is desolate except for one walking figure: an old man with a snow-white beard and a monocle who must be Geppetto.
It’s a far cry from the cheery tale many people know from the animated Disney film. The first part of the trailer shows a rat squirming out of what appears to be a dead man’s mouth. Lies of P looks like a horrifying take on the toy-becomes-boy classic.
Developed by Round 8 Studios ( Bless Unleashed) and published by Neowiz, the game is slated to come to Google Stadia, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X in 2023. Lies of P is a new “Souls-like” action RPG that blends the classic children’s story Pinocchio with the plague-filled horrors of Bloodborne.
